Meet the Pastor
In the fall of 1972 he attended Indiana University-Ft. Wayne, then Concordia Senior College, from which he received his B.A. in 1977. He then entered the Master of Divinity program at the Lutheran Theological Seminar at Gettysburg, PA. As part of his training he served a clinical experience at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, IN, and his one-year internship was at Christ Lutheran Church in Jeffersontown, KY, with Pastor Tom BeMiller. During his senior year he met and married Mary Leigh, who was completing her work on a Masters in Christian Education at LTSG. He was ordained at Trinity English in Ft. Wayne on June 14, 1981, and began serving Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Indianapolis. In April of 1984 he received a call to serve as pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church in Madison, Ohio. in September of 1989 he received a call to serve as pastor of Faith. He and Mary Leigh have twin daughters, Katie and Laura, who are seniors at Mount Vernon High School. Pastor enjoys reading, college basketball, and family time. Mary Leigh is a local volunteer and collection center coordinator for Operation Christmas Child, an outreach of Samaritan's Purse ministries. In addition to his ministry at Faith, Pastor Mark has served on the Board of Trustees of Interchurch of Knox County, Ethics Committee of Knox Community Hospital, and been president of Knox County Ministerial Association. He is currently serving in his second term on Synod Council, is a member of the Ethics Committee at Hospice of Knox County, and serves the greater community in a variety of ways as needed.
